Expert Training

SSY Trainee Scheme

With over 140 years’ experience, SSY is widely regarded as one of the world's most trusted names in broking, offering a comprehensive and integrated suite of broking services via its 25 local offices.

Through our London Trainee Scheme, successful applicants get the opportunity to learn from some of the most experienced names in shipping over a 12-month period. In addition to expert divisional training, we will also ensure the trainees are educated in the principals of shipping, as well as take part in networking opportunities and a series of port visits and vessel trips.

Cybersecurity-Focused Technical Support Specialist

Due to our continued growth, we are now looking for a Cybersecurity-Focused Technical Support Specialist to join our IT team in London.

SSY is the world’s largest independent broker. We are objective and autonomous with the scale and coverage to service the most demanding clients and volatile markets across the globe. As a privately owned partnership, we are focused entirely on the needs of our clients and are agile and impartial in the way we do business. SSY operates from 25 offices across the globe and employs over 500 people, covering all the major shipping and commodity locations, and providing a round-the-clock service.

Position Overview:

We are looking for a seasoned Technical Support Specialist with a strong emphasis on cybersecurity to join SSY. This role combines cybersecurity expertise with daily support activities to ensure our systems and users remain secure and supported.

Key Qualifications:

Experience: Minimum of 3 years in similar role.
Technical Proficiency: Certification and hands-on experience with cyber security tools.
Educational Background: A degree in Cybersecurity or a closely related field is required.
Problem-Solving Skills: Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical and security-related issues.
Email Security: Proficiency in email security protocols (SMTP, DMARC, SPF, DKIM) and addressing email delivery issues.
Cybersecurity Expertise: Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles, best practices, and incident response procedures.
Networking Expertise: Experience with networking protocols and components, including DNS, DHCP, and Fortigate.
Remote Support: Proficiency in providing remote support using tools like Zoho Desk or similar.
Documentation Skills: Ability to create and maintain detailed documentation for processes, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
Flexibility: Willingness to assist with any tasks reported to the team, including general support queries.
Responsibilities

Cybersecurity Focus:
Oversee and manage cybersecurity tools and systems.
Respond to security incidents and alerts.
Collaborate with third parties to ensure the organisation's cybersecurity posture remains robust.
Educate team members on emerging threats and best practices.
Phishing assessments and training.
Daily IT Support:
Provide exceptional day-to-day IT support to our Global team and offer extended global support as required.
Address support tickets with efficiency and professionalism.
Mentorship:
Train and mentor first-line support staff, fostering a collaborative and skilled team.
Collaboration:
Work with other technical teams to understand their requirements and assist them in utilising infrastructure securely and effectively.
Industry Knowledge:
Stay updated on the latest industry technologies, cybersecurity trends, and associated supplier solutions.
Project Leadership:
Lead and contribute to various IT and cybersecurity projects, ensuring successful planning, execution, and completion.
Location

This full-time position is based in SSY's London office, with a competitive salary. Periodic travel may be required. Candidates must have the right to work in the UK.
